A characteristic that is an attribute of another characteristic. You can use an attribute to specify further information about a characteristic, thus enabling a grouping of characteristic values. For example, you can have groups of inventory items by assigning the attribute "inventory item group" to the characteristic "inventory item". In SAP Consolidation, the attribute "country" is assigned to the characteristic "consolidation unit". In addition to standard SAP attributes, customers can also define their own "custom" attributes.
