Initially Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW) was all about cubes , datamarts , STAR Schemas and designing them properly for good performance… A lot of thought went into designing the cubes and making sure that the cube tables were optimized and the usual checks for performance where we compared the size of the FACT table with the Dimension tables to make sure that we did not go over the prescribed 20% limit unless it was inevitable..

Last week I had to good fortune to attend the SAP Run Better Tour (RBT) in NYC. Apart from being dazzled by the fanfare that traditionally accompanies any SAP announcement, my best learning  occurred  in the corridors, blogger deep-dive,  and break-out sessions where I spent valuable time learning from SAP Technicians,  customers and fellow bloggers.

"For those who have already made the investment in BWA technology, you need to be on BWA7.0. The next version, BWA7.2 is required for BW7.3. If you are in the process of deploying the BWA, you should jump directly to BWA7.2 regardless of your BW version. The BWA7.2 will run in full BWA7.2 mode if you pair it with a BW7.3 system and quite happily run in BWA7.0 mode if you pair it with a BW7.01 system."

Monday Morning … you get a question from one of the users who wants the aggregated sales by material group… This is just a one time requirement which the user wants for some presentation to be given to someone and he(or she.. not too gender biased …)  wants this information yesterday ( as always… )

I've some problems with the Delta Extraction of the Infosource 0crm_oppt_h (CRM Opportunities Header). After initialization I get no delta data from the CRM system.

some infocubes here contain some infoobjects, e.g. 0material ,0BPARTNER, with large number of attributes. Such infoobjects are marked as 'line item' dimension in the cube defintion due to the large number of records.

After expending a data source we cannot load data to the ODS. We expended data source 0SVY_DATA_1 with a z-field transaction number.

so you added 0calquarter. If you populate it from a date field, you don't have to do any coding. Just map it to the date field and the system is doing the calculation for you. If not, create a routine and do the following:

"Ultimately the transaction BWA7 was able to solve this issue. I selected the data source and clicked the "Stop delta or initial Update" and that solved everything and I am able to do init/full and delta as well"

We were loading data after activating business content. Every thing worked fine and the delta load was also smooth.
